Explore Baltimore's Historic Mount Vernon Neighborhood

One of the country’s most historic seaports, Baltimore is Maryland’s largest city. Often called “a city of neighborhoods,” Baltimore's hundred-plus districts have been home to residents ranging from poet Edgar Allen Poe and baseball’s Babe Ruth to Francis Scott Key, who wrote The Star Spangled Banner at Fort McHenry in the mouth of the Inner Harbor. A model of urban renewal, Baltimore’s charming neighborhoods include Mount Vernon, home of Hotel Indigo Baltimore. A National Landmark Historic District dating back centuries, Mount Vernon takes its name from George Washington’s Virginia plantation home.
